Private Island Rental in Belize: The Ultimate Guide

Did you know that you can rent your own private island? Yes, that´s right! You can rent a private island and have it all to yourself in Belize!
I personally stayed at a beautiful private island called Little Peter Oasis as part of a collaboration and absolutely loved it! Belize offers multiple private island rentals, in this blog post I will share about my stay at Little Peter Oasis.
Little Peter Oasis is a private island rental, located 8 miles off the Belizean coast. The private and unique setting of this island makes it a perfect place for a romantic getaway such as a honeymoon or anniversary.
Also a note that even though I have stayed here as part of a collaboration, everything I share here is my personal opinion.

1. Whats included in the island rental?
If you rent your own private island in Belize, the following is included:
- Boat transfer from the mainland (Hopkins) to the island
- Stay in an overwater bungalow
- 3 meals per day and all-inclusive drinks
- 4 island staff members (1 island manager, 2 island caretakers and 1 private chef)
- Unlimited activities such as swimming, snorkling, fishing, kayaking and paddleboarding
Little Peter Oasis can accommodate a maximum of 8 guests (for families with kids, otherwise 6) on the island.
2. The overwater bungalow
The overwater bungalow is the main building on the island and accommodates up to 4 persons. It is equipped with the following:
- 2 bedrooms with queen sized beds
- 2 bathrooms with hot water
- Big living room & kitchen area
- Huge outdoor terrace/ deck with direct access to the island´s private blue lagoon
- AC in the bedrooms and fans in the other rooms
- Free WIFI
The overwater bungalow is tastefully furnished and decorated with high quality furniture and materials.
3. The Casita
The casita was added to Little Peter Oasis recently.
It sleeps 4 additional persons (2 adults, 2 children) and is equipped with the following:
- 1 bedroom with 2 queen sized beds
- 1 bathroom with hot water
- Small kitchen/ fridge area inside the bedroom
- Outdoor terrace overlooking the ocean
- AC in the bedroom
- Free WIFI
The design of the casita is a bit different from the overwater bungalow but both are incredibly beautiful in their own way.
So if you are traveling with a big family, you can use both buildings.
4. Food options at Little Peter Oasis
Now, let´s talk food:
This private island rental comes with a personal chef. He prepares 3 meals per day that you can choose from a menu. Depending on the season, you will find lobster or conch dishes on the menu as well!
I was lucky enough to visit during lobster season and had freshly caught lobster multiple times during my stay.
Breakfast and lunch are usually served on the outdoor deck of the overwater bungalow. Dinner can also be served next to the Tiki bar of the island, where the island staff sets up a table with romantic lights and decoration.
Once per stay the staff also makes a bonfire for the guests as a special event.
I had everything from typical Belizean breakfast to Tacos, Steak and freshly caught lobster.
Absolutely loved everything I had during my stay!
5. Activities on and around the island
Swimming
The island has it´s own deep blue lagoon, which is perfect for swimming.
You can dive right in from the deck of the overwater bungalow and enjoy the crystal clear water.
Snorkling
Island staff takes you on a boat tour to go fishing and snorkling in and around the Belize barrier reef.
The island itself also has it´s own house reef with beautiful fish and corals. It´s possible to go snorkling right from the deck of your overwater bungalow.
Kayaking & Paddleboarding
The island is equipped with multiple kayaks and paddleboards that can be used by guests without limitations. I did kayak around the island a couple of times and loved it.
Did not try paddle boarding, but it´s on my list for the next visit!
Fishing
The island staff takes you on a boat tour to go fishing and snorkling in and around the Belize barrier reef.
Observing the wildlife
Even though being a small island, there is a lot of wildlife to be observed on and around Little Peter Oasis. Many different birds such as pelicans and even ospreys visit the island every day. The underwater world around the island is home to many different fish & coral species and nurse sharks typically hang out around the dock area of Little Peter Oasis.
Excursions
Apart from the included fishing & snorkling excursion, the staff can also arrange tours like island hopping or visiting Maya ruins on Belize mainland at an additional charge.
