Germany

Germany is a very big European country and super diverse.

From picture-perfect fairytale towns to mountains, major cities and a stunning coastline, you can find everything here!

Personally, I have spent way more time in Southern Germany around the Alps, as it is one of my favourite regions in the world for hiking.

I also lived in Germany for a little while from 2023-2025, even though I was still mostly traveling during that time. My apartment was located in the gorgeous Allgäu region, which is full of mountains, gorge hikes and lakes.

I also really love the wine regions in Germany like the Moselle region and Franconian Wine Country.

Highly recommend visiting different places in Germany, I’m sure you will love it!

General Information & Good To Know before visiting Germany

Language:

German. English is mostly spoken in touristy places and by the younger generation.

Currency:

Euro

Weather:

Germany is a very big country with different climates. Winter in the Alps can be very cold with lots of snow while in the North it’s often still quite mild but stormy. In summer it gets quite hot throughout the country, while the North and South stay the coolest. I personally prefer spring & autumn for the best temperatures and most beautiful nature.

Safety:

Generally, Germany is a very safe country, also for solo travelers. In larger cities crime rates might be a bit higher, but listening to your gut and being aware of your surroundings is a great way to avoid any incidents. I always felt super safe throughout Germany.
