France

France is a very big European country and super diverse.

From picture-perfect fairytale towns to mountains, major cities and a stunning coastline, you can find everything here!

Including the French Oversea Territories, you can even have a dream tropical getaway in France.

I have personally not visited France extensively but the few select places I visited, I absolutely loved.

So far I have been to: Alsace, Provence, French Polynesia, Guadeloupe, Martinique, La Reunion, Paris (only place I didn’t love so much) and the French Alps.

In the coming months I definitely want to explore more of France, especially visiting more fairytale towns, as I have sooo many on my list.

General Information & Good To Know before visiting France

Language:

French. Compared to other countries, I found it a bit more difficult here to get along with English but eventually all worked out.

Currency:

Euro

Weather:

Depending on the different regions. In the alps snowy and cold winters, along the coasts mainly mild. Summer gets pretty warm all over the country. A lot of the oversea territories are tropical and have a rainy season & dry season.

Safety:

Generally, France is a very safe country, also for solo travelers. In larger cities crime rates might be a bit higher, but listening to your gut and being aware of your surroundings is a great way to avoid any incidents. On the oversea territories it’s generally very safe too, but always good to double check current conditions and warnings before a trip.
