Austria

Austria is my home country and even though I don’t live here anymore since many years, I love exploring new places around the country and appreciate it’s natural beauty so much.

Growing up here, I didn’t really love Austria at first. When I was younger, I always wanted to be near the sea and as a landlocked country, I kinda felt like Austria could not keep up with countries like Italy, Spain or Greece. Oh boy, was I wrong.

Nowadays I much prefer swimming in mountain lakes rather than the ocean, so now I enjoy my visits to Austria even more.

It’s such a small country (you can drive from one end to the other in about 7 hours) but there’s sooo much to do and see!

Especially if you love nature, mountains and lakes, you NEED to visit Austria at least once in your life!

Austria is also home to numerous charming fairytale towns, beautiful cities, wine regions and many thermal spas.

It basically got everything except a coastline.

Austria has got 4 beautiful and vastly different seasons. Winter, spring, summer, autumn. Winter is perfect for skiing and wellness, spring for beautiful nature and hiking, summer ideal for spending time in the mountains and lakes and autumn is best spent enjoying the fall foliage all over the country and by visiting a wine region.

Safety:

Austria is a very safe country. In the larger cities, there might be some petty crime every now and then, like in pretty much any larger European city but other than that it’s super safe and very suitable for solo travelers.
